How to find Vista Del Mar. The street address is 37691 Breaker Reach and you can also quickly view the Google Map.
At mile marker SOM 54.41 on Highway 1, turn left on to Vantage Road, left on Breaker Reach and continue to the end of the cul-de-sac. Our home is the first home on the right side of the cul-de-sac.
Before you depart, be sure to check for delays or detours. In order to determine road conditions getting to Sea Ranch, there are three major official sources of information:
1. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Traffic Incident Information website has the most up-to the minute source of information for all roads patrolled by the CHP. For example, if a tree fell across Highway 1 at Sea Ranch then it would first be reported on the CHP page. In the upper left corner, under Communication Centers, select Golden Gate in the pulldown. Visually scan the rightmost column for “Santa Rosa.”
2. The California Department of Transportation (DOT) Road Information website is the definitive source of medium- and long-term status information for numbered California highways such as US 101 and CA 1. For example, if there were construction blocking one lane of Highway 1 then it would be listed on the DOT site. Key in the highway number such as 1 or 116 and click Search. For the major north-south roads such as Highway 1 the information is divided into Northern, Central and Southern California Areas. Note that Sonoma County is Central California and Mendocino County is Northern California.
3. The Sonoma County Road Closures & Delays website gives the status of unnumbered roads in Sonoma County. For example, if River Road were blocked by flooding it would be listed on the Sonoma County site. The information is pretty much self-explanatory. Note that you can display the same information in table or map form by clicking the appropriate link at the upper right, and that the table form may be displayed in summary or in detail, and may be sorted on any column by clicking on the column heading.
For a complete picture one generally needs to check both the CHP site and either the DOT and/or Sonoma County site as appropriate. In addition, Google Maps is often surprisingly up-to-date and accurate with regard to closed roads.
A reminder that because cell phones will be "iffy" in mobile dead spots or areas of weak network signals, we encourage you to print and carry the directions with you.
