There is a single remote control that operates the TV, DVD and entertainment system. In addition to these instructions, there is a white binder (on the bottom shelf of the stereo equipment cabinet) with step-by-step instructions for operating the TV, DVD and stereo. Please note that when using the remote for TV, there is often a delay/wait time.
The Honeywell programmable thermostat (located on the wall around the corner from the kitchen wall oven) controls the forced air heating system.
To help minimize the spread of Covid, we recently installed a brand-new HVAC system that includes a high efficiency air filtration system to stop dust and other contaminants from passing through the filter and into the air stream.

In an enclosure directly outside the kitchen window, you'll find the barbecue with a direct connection to the home’s propane. The propane valve is in the back right-hand side of the enclosure that protrudes from the deck flooring. The valve must be turned downward to be in line with the pipe for the gas to be turned on.
Please return gas valve to the "off" position before vacating home.

The fireplace and wood-burning stove in the living room get very hot. Please keep people away from the doors and use a glove mitt or a hot pad to protect your hands from the high heat.
The wood pile is outside, at the end of the driveway The fireplace can be burned with glass doors open or closed. It is best to have a good fire started before opening the glass doors, so as not to have excessive smoke coming into the room.
Please ensure the fireplace doors are completely closed before leaving the house and the fire will burn itself out safely.
After an extensive and painstaking year-long restoration/rebuilding process, our irreplaceable instrument has been restored to its original glory. Because the soft wood is easily damaged, we ask that she only be played by experienced musicians who will handle her with the appropriate care and respect.
Please keep all liquids at a distance, as condensation can ruin the finish; spilled liquids will not only damage the wood but can cause irreversible internal damage. Lastly, please do not play the piano with long fingernails as that will scratch the piano keys and fallboard; please cover the keyboard when not in use.
Whether the custom cover is on the piano or not, under no circumstances should any objects be placed on the instrument – and the piano should never be used as a surface for food or drink.
Internet | Telephone | Water | Gas | Electricity | Trash | Recycling
Internet and telephone: Use of Internet and VoIP telephone (for calls within the United States and Canada) is complimentary. Network name and password are at the top of this page.
Water: Given the recent history of droughts, water tends to be very costly at Sea Ranch. We thank you in advance for exercising prudence and being conservative when using water at the house.
Gas: The water heater and furnace are powered by propane gas. The level of propane tank is routinely monitored and refilled.
Electricity: PG&E supplies electricity to the house and, in the event of a power outage, the electrical panel is located in the furnace closet (across the hall from the guest bedrooms).
Trash and recycling: Trash and recycling are scheduled to be picked up on Thursdays. When the bins under the sink are full, we request you empty the bins inside the home into the trash and recycling bins in the latched enclosure at the end of the driveway (also accessible from the courtyard). The Recology crew retrieve the trash and recycling bins from the enclosure, so there is no need to take the containers out to the street.
